COMMENTS:  glued but no restoration.  Beautiful blue color, hard and dense, very stable.  This tusk tip came from one of the largest mastodons known from Florida, the lower tusks were near record size.  The lower jaws have been recovered and are now curated in a private collection.  Unfortunately, most of the tusks apparently lay on land exposed to the elements  for many years and were much deteriorated.  Mounted on a beautiful  burl oak slab from our property.
