Wacissa Early Archaic Alachua Co. FL
3 1/2" $700 order h9
COMMENTS: large, broad blade made from Alachua Pink Chert, found typically
in Alachua, Marion, Gilchrist and Columbia Counties. Many knowledgeable
Florida collectors are aware that there is a Wacissa variant not described by
Schroder which is typically larger and much better made that the average
Wacissa, but the main characteristic is the many fine serrations. These
also often have a very acute or nipple tip. This is a fine example of this
as yet unnamed variant.
