Sabercat (Smilodon  gracilis)

The following Saber cat Smilodon gracilis vertebrae are from Gilchrist Co. FL, from the Santa Fe River, from a  light tan clay layer, hence the light color.  Embedded in the clay, these were not exposed to the tannic stain.  Very probably all from the same individual animal. All the verts have some damage but the surfaces are crisp with no erosion nor wear.   The gracilis is even more rare than the fatalis.
